Carrie Barcomb is a contemporary landscape painter whose work explores memory, light, and belonging. Working in oil and acrylics, her paintings begin with close observation of the physical world before dissolving into atmospheric abstraction—capturing nature's cyclical processes, impermanence, and the quiet transitions of place.
"I'm drawn to northern latitudes and the ways seasonal shifts shape our internal states. Through flowing, atmospheric landscapes, I contrast the fleeting beauty of the North against the heavy air of modern, prolonged summers. As places once defined by frost and snow confront a changing climate, my paintings serve as an act of preservation—an exploration of resilience in a warming North."
Carrie holds a BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art (1994). Her background in botanical and environmental illustration continues to inform her artistic process, instilling attention to the subtle structures, complexity, and details of the natural world.
Based in Southeastern Pennsylvania, Carrie's paintings and ongoing creative focus continue to draw her northward, channeling the shifting light, weather, and power of coastal and North Atlantic landscapes. Her award-winning work is held in collections across the United States and Europe.
