About

Carrie Barcomb is a contemporary painter whose landscapes explore memory, environmental shift, and the resonance of place.  Her broader practice spans atmospheric oil landscapes and narrative illustration, tracing a lifelong reverence for the natural world.

Her landscape paintings begin with the close observation of physical environments before dissolving into atmospheric abstraction. Whether capturing the heavy air of modern, prolonged summers, the stark mythology of Icelandic coastlines, or the quiet poetry of a still life, her work serves as an act of preservation—capturing nature's cyclical processes and impermanence amid the quiet transitions of place.

Artistic Foundations

Carrie holds a BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art (1994). In addition to botanical and environmental illustration, her background includes technical illustrations for government contract work.

Living and working in Southeastern Pennsylvania, Carrie regularly travels to study the shifting light and quiet transitions of coastal and North Atlantic landscapes. Her paintings have been exhibited in Iceland, and her work is held in private collections across the United States and Europe.
